Rocky Mountain PBS Focuses on Baby Boomer Issues

“Life Wise” on Rocky Mountain PBS, based in Denver, is a special program addressing important baby boomer and senior issues. The Rocky Mountain PBS original series returns Thursday, February 24, with a one-hour special.

Host Cynthia Hessin brings together groups of experts to discuss everything from financial security and housing alternatives to health and fitness.

In the next 20 years, there will be more than 70 million people in the U.S. over the age of 65. And in Colorado, nearly a third of metro Denver’s residents are boomers – more than the national average of nearly 27 percent. Some non-urban Colorado counties have even higher concentrations of boomers.

The senior demographic is a huge and diverse group, with a range of critical needs and costs. But this group also wields a perhaps unprecedented amount of power, in terms of its sheer size and the members’ motivation to impact both policy and the communities they live in.
