Washington’s Cherry Blossoms – 2009
Each year in early April, the famous cherry and tulip trees burst into bloom around the Jefferson Memorial and the Tidal Basin in Washington, D.C. It’s the city’s biggest annual tourist attraction. Hundreds of thousands of visitors come from around the world for the cherry blossom festival and just to walk beneath the canopy of pale pink blossoms.
Despite some overcast skies, wind and rain this year, the blossoms are radiant. Here’s a slideshow of the blossoms at their peak, with images taken Thursday, April 2, 2009:

What great photos.
I live in Olympia, Wash., and we have cherry blossoms at our state capital, too.
You’ve inspired me to take photos of them for my blog The Survive and Thrive Boomer Guide at http://boomersurvive-thriveguide.typepad.com.
I hope we have some sunny weather for my photo session. It’s been raining here so much.
Is it difficult to do a slide show like the one above?
