I think that everyone should try to be understanding and compassionate with others. Forgive other people's shortcomings, and you might be more forgiving with yourself as well. On the other hand, in my reading of authors such as Chinua Achebe and (dang I forgot the Japanese author's name) suicide may be accepted as part of a culture and may serve a positive purpose.
